From Body Care to an Independent Perfume House

Sacred Fragrance is an independent perfume house founded in Bolton in 2024 by Yaseer Karwa. Our journey into fine fragrance did not begin with a finished perfume bottle. It began at home, with a simple belief that everyday body care could smell richer, feel more luxurious and perform better.

Rather than continuing to search for products that met those expectations, we began developing our own. That decision led first to our body washes and hand washes, then into home fragrance and, eventually, to the creation of our own Extrait de Parfum collection.

Where Sacred Fragrance began

Our earliest work focused on perfume-inspired body wash and hand wash. We wanted fragrance to be a meaningful part of the experience rather than something that disappeared immediately after rinsing.

Developing the finished formulas required more than choosing a fragrance. We worked on the relationship between the wash base, fragrance system, texture, lather and the way the skin felt afterwards. Each adjustment affected something else, so the process became one of weighing, blending, testing, resting and refining.

That practical work became the foundation of Sacred Fragrance: products developed with purpose, made in controlled batches and judged by how they perform in real use.

From body care to a perfume house

Fragrance was always at the centre of the brand. As our understanding of formulation grew, the natural next step was to move from fragranced body care into fine fragrance itself.

For the past 18 months, we have been studying, testing and refining perfume. That work has included understanding how top, heart and base notes develop; how natural and modern aroma materials interact; how diffusion differs from simple strength; and how a fragrance changes during maceration and on the skin.

Our perfumes were not created overnight or selected from a catalogue and given new labels. Each Sacred Fragrance scent is developed as our own finished formula in our Bolton laboratory, with its balance, concentration and performance assessed before filling.

Why we chose Extrait de Parfum

Our collection is centred on 50ml Extrait de Parfum. We chose this format because it gives us room to build fragrances with richness, presence and a developed dry-down.

Concentration alone does not make a perfume exceptional. A successful extrait still needs balance: brighter materials to create lift, heart notes that give the composition identity, and a base that supports the fragrance without making it feel heavy or flat. Every material must have a purpose.

Professional perfumery ingredients sourced internationally

We source professional perfumery materials from respected suppliers and manufacturers in the UK and around the world. Many of these manufacturers also supply materials across the international fine-fragrance industry, including ingredients used by leading perfume companies.

Our palette includes carefully selected fragrance compounds and specialist aroma materials used to shape diffusion, texture, structure and longevity. Depending on the formula, these may include modern musks, amber materials, woods, florals, resins and materials that help a fragrance radiate from the skin.

We do not select an ingredient simply because it sounds impressive. We consider its quality, function within the formula, supporting technical documentation and the way it behaves with the complete composition.

Why we use cosmetic-grade ethanol instead of a generic perfumer’s alcohol base

“Perfumer’s alcohol” is often used as a broad name for a ready-mixed alcohol base. Ethanol is the alcohol at the heart of most spray perfumes, but a pre-mixed base can also contain other ingredients chosen by its supplier.

At Sacred Fragrance, we use high-purity cosmetic-grade ethanol rather than relying on a generic, ready-made perfumer’s alcohol mixture. This allows us to control the perfume formula more deliberately and add each selected material separately in measured amounts.

This does not mean ethanol alone makes a fragrance stronger or longer lasting. Performance comes from the entire construction: the fragrance materials, their proportions, concentration, solubility, maturation and how the perfume develops on the wearer. Using ethanol directly simply gives us greater control over that construction.

What “developed in-house” means to us

Our in-house process covers the work that turns individual materials into a finished Sacred Fragrance perfume:

• evaluating the character and performance of the fragrance;
• weighing the formula precisely;
• blending the ethanol, fragrance and supporting materials in a controlled order;
• allowing the perfume to rest and mature;
• assessing clarity, scent development, projection and dry-down;
• filtering where required, then filling and finishing the bottles.

We continue to test and improve because perfumery is not a process that ends with one successful batch. Materials vary, ideas develop and every formula teaches us something that informs the next.

A modern fragrance house built from experience

Today, Sacred Fragrance brings together perfume, body care and home fragrance under one approach: everyday products should be purposeful, beautifully presented and memorable to use.

Our body washes and hand washes taught us how fragrance behaves in functional products. Our room sprays, diffusers and incense taught us how scent fills a space. Our perfumes bring that knowledge closer to the skin.

What began at home has grown into an in-house manufacturing laboratory and retail store at 317 Derby Street, Bolton. The surroundings have changed, but the principle has not: we develop carefully, test honestly and release products we are proud to place under the Sacred Fragrance name.
